Come sailing in Scotland, Portsonachan Hoteldo have a full slipway, dock and moorings for residents use. We charge a standard weekly fee of £30.00 which includes a launch and recovery plus either a mooring for the week or a berth in the dock.






The Loch lends itself to all sorts of water sports including wind surfing, yachting, canoeing and water skiing. There is very little traffic on the Loch, which makes all these activities far more enjoyable. As you can see in the pictures on our site Loch Awe is an unspoilt environment with much beauty.

Portsonachan offers a comfortable and welcoming place to stay whilst partaking in this persuit. We would hope you try Glen Orchy, Glencoe or just walk out of our front door and on up into the Scottish hills and get swept away by the beauty.

6 miles from the hotel is a stunning forest drive. Taking you from one valley over the top of hills down in to Loch Awe. The views from the top are breathtaking.

A viewing wildlife hide, stocked with binoculars and note pads, overlooking Loch Sidheannach, can be found half way round the drive. The small Loch packed with comings and goings of all sorts of creatures, anything from Otters, Golden Eagles, Ospreys to Damselflies.

Portsonachan Hotel provides mountain bike hire. It is a superb way to take advantage of the stunning countryside and enjoy some healthy exercise whilst on holiday in Scotland.

Oban is the meeting place between land and sea. A perfect, sheltered harbour makes it the principal seaport for the Isles and the capital of the West Highlands.

It has a mild, temperate climate, warmed by the Gulf Stream and washed (too often, some might say) by the soft rain that often falls hereabouts. This misty, briny character, with a background of heather and peat, is perfectly echoed in the malt whisky produced at Oban.
